Adopt-A-Block with Wee Ones Club: Caring for Our Block
In February, the Murray Hill Neighborhood Association’s Quality of Life Committee headed back to Wee Ones Club Preschool for the second visit in our Adopt-A-Block school outreach series.
This visit focused on Caring for Our Block, highlighting how even 4-year-olds already know what it means to be good neighbors. Together with the Four’s class, we talked about helping at home and school, why clean sidewalks and healthy plants matter, and how taking pride in shared spaces — from classrooms to tree beds — helps our neighborhood feel happy and welcoming.
The students also learned the basics of trash vs. recycling, practicing how to help things get to where they belong using drawings and hands-on examples. A fan-favorite for the students was getting to try out real “helper tools” like gloves and trash pickers — serious business for our youngest neighborhood helpers.
We wrapped up with a visual activity sheet and a big reminder that every little helper makes a big difference.
MHNA is proud to partner with Wee Ones Club to show that neighborhood pride starts early, and that caring for Murray Hill is as much about community and connection as it is about our streets. Stay tuned as our Adopt-A-Block school outreach continues next month!
