Congestion Relief Zone Tolling Is Here
Congestion pricing is here!
Congestion Relief Zone tolling officially launched at midnight on Sunday, January 5. Now, vehicles driving into the zone—local streets and avenues in Manhattan south of 60th Street, excluding the FDR Drive, West Side Highway/Route 9A, and the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel connections to West Street—are charged a toll.
If you’re driving into the Congestion Relief Zone, you can expect to see signs posted near or at the entrance to the zone, and signs letting you know where it ends. Detection points at the entrance identify vehicles license plates and E-ZPass tags. This is why it’s important to link your license plate to your E-ZPass account and properly mount your E-ZPass tag; otherwise, you won’t be tolled at the lower E-ZPass rate or get any applicable crossing credits.
Get details on toll rates:
Use our new toll rate calculator to get an estimate of the amount you will be charged when entering the zone. This tool helps simplify the calculation and provides information about excluded roadways, crossing credits, and other factors that influence what you’ll pay.
The toll amount depends on a few factors: time of day, type of vehicle, payment method, and whether any discounts or exemptions apply. For example, passenger vehicles and motorcycles are tolled only once per day. Most people paying with E-ZPass will pay $9 during the peak period (weekdays from 5 a.m.-9 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.), and $2.25 overnight (all other times).
