Did You Know? Murray Hill Is Home to Four MICHELIN-Recognized Restaurants

Four restaurants. Four unique stories. One remarkable neighborhood.

Murray Hill has long been known for its welcoming neighborhood feel and wide variety of places to eat, from classic diners and neighborhood cafés to family-owned favorites and award-winning restaurants. Now, our neighborhood has another reason to celebrate.

With the recent addition of KJUN and Oyatte to the MICHELIN Guide, Murray Hill is now home to four MICHELIN-recognized restaurants: one MICHELIN Star, one Bib Gourmand, and two newly selected restaurants in the MICHELIN Guide.

What Is the MICHELIN Guide?

First published in 1900, the MICHELIN Guide has become one of the world’s most respected restaurant guides. Anonymous inspectors evaluate restaurants based on the quality of the food, consistency, technique, and the chef’s unique point of view. Earning recognition from the MICHELIN Guide is considered one of the highest honors in the culinary world.

Little Alley

550 Third Ave. (between 36th & 37th Streets)

Recognized with a Bib Gourmand, Little Alley is known for authentic regional dishes from China, with an emphasis on Shanghai. Led by Chef Yuchun Cheung, the restaurant has earned praise for delivering exceptional quality and value, the hallmark of the Bib Gourmand distinction.

Tempura Matsui

222 E. 39th St. (between Second & Third Avenues)

Tempura Matsui has held a MICHELIN Star for 10 consecutive years and is America’s only MICHELIN-starred restaurant dedicated exclusively to tempura. Its carefully crafted seasonal tasting menu and meticulous attention to detail have made it a destination for diners from around the world.

Oyatte

125 E. 39th St. (between Lexington & Park Avenues)

One of Murray Hill’s newest additions to the MICHELIN Guide, Oyatte is led by Chef Hasung Lee, runner-up on Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars, where he competed as “Culinary Monster.” The restaurant’s seasonal tasting menu highlights ingredients sourced from Crown Daisy Farm in upstate New York, creating a menu that changes with the seasons.

KJUN

334 Lexington Ave. (at the corner of 39th Street)

Also newly added to the MICHELIN Guide, KJUN is the creation of Chef Jae Jung, a former competitor on Bravo’s Top Chef. Inspired by her Korean heritage and her years cooking in New Orleans, Chef Jung created a distinctive restaurant that blends Korean and Cajun influences, earning national recognition and now a place in the MICHELIN Guide.

From neighborhood classics to internationally recognized dining, Murray Hill continues to offer an impressive variety of culinary experiences. We are proud to celebrate these outstanding achievements and congratulate the chefs and teams whose talent, creativity, and dedication continue to bring recognition to our neighborhood.
