Help Murray Hill’s Street Trees Thrive This Summer
Did you know that the first few years are the most important in a street tree’s life? Young trees need regular watering and proper care to grow strong, provide shade, improve air quality, and beautify our neighborhood.
We’ve created a simple guide with easy tips on watering, mulching, planting, and caring for sidewalk tree beds. Whether you’re a resident, business owner, building staff member, or property manager, a few minutes each week can make a big difference.
If you already care for the tree in front of your home or business, consider helping a few others on your block as well. Many young street trees don’t have anyone looking after them, and a little extra attention during the summer can help them thrive for years to come.
A healthy street tree benefits all of us. Take a look at the flyer below and consider adopting a tree near your home or business this summer.

Great writeup on how to care for young trees. One important point not mentioned is to keep dogs from urinating on the bark/trunk and around its roots. It is a fact that urination—can damage the tree by causing nitrogen burn, altering the soil chemistry, and burning the bark. Dog owners, be mindful of this.
