Invitation to the Screening of “Mensch” – A Film by Paweł Wysoczański

Join us for an exclusive screening of Mensch, a powerful documentary by acclaimed director Paweł Wysoczański, known for his impactful work, including the documentary Jurek on legendary mountaineer Jerzy Kukuczka. Mensch delves into the life and legacy of Ludwik Hirszfeld—a doctor, scientist, and idealist whose extraordinary story reflects the turbulence and resilience of the first half of the 20th century.

About the Film Mensch is the first full-length documentary exploring the life of Ludwik Hirszfeld, a remarkable yet largely unrecognized hero. A pioneer in hematology and immunology, Hirszfeld’s contributions to blood science divided the world into “types,” yet he believed in a world without such divisions. His life was marked by sacrifice, courage, and a relentless hope for a better world, even as historical events tried to destroy him and his work.

The film includes never-before-seen archival materials and features insights from prominent Polish, American, German, Swiss, and Serbian scientists, shedding new light on Hirszfeld’s legacy and scientific achievements.

Special Panel Discussion Following the screening, join an insightful discussion with director Paweł Wysoczański and a distinguished panel of American scientists, including:
