Live taping of PERSON PLACE THING show with Dr. Herb Gould at The Amateur Comedy Club 6:30 PM, Tuesday, June 2
The storied Amateur Comedy Club will host a special taping of Person Place Thing, recorded for broadcast on public radio. Created and hosted by Emmy Award–winning writer Randy Cohen, the acclaimed program invites guests to discuss a person, a place, and a thing of special meaning, revealing character through passion rather than résumé.
The evening’s guest, Dr. Herb Gould, promises to be unforgettable. A pioneering ophthalmological surgeon credited with developing the modern method of cataract removal, Dr. Gould is also an Emmy Award recipient, an accomplished Shakespearean actor, and a longtime presence at the Amateur Comedy Club.
At 96, he brings remarkable vitality, wit, and a lifetime of extraordinary experiences spanning medicine, theater, and storytelling. With roots in show business—his godfather was Al Jolson, and his father performed with Harry Lauder’s troupe—his story bridges generations of art and science.
This promises to be an evening of insight, humor, and memorable storytelling.
A reception with refreshments in the club’s Green Room will follow the approximate hour-long program.
