Meet Sideya Sherman, the next DCP Director and Chair of the City Planning Commission!

We’re excited to welcome Sideya to NYC Planning as she prepares to lead the agency into its next chapter.

Sherman most recently served as New York City’s Chief Equity Officer and Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Equity & Racial Justice. With deep experience advancing equity and opportunity, she will bring a strong commitment to housing affordability and to helping New Yorkers thrive across our city’s neighborhoods.

“It’s an exciting time for city planning, with a mandate to deliver a city that New Yorkers can afford, and new tools to help make that a reality. I look forward to working with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor Bozorg, the public servants at DCP, and communities across New York as we advance equitable and community-focused land use policy,” Sherman said.

A lifelong public servant who began her career here as an intern, Edith has helped lead major zoning reforms, strengthened job centers across NYC, and brings deep expertise and leadership to the work ahead.
