Our Block in Every Season: Wee Ones Club Preschoolers Learn Community Care
Our Block in Every Season
This spring, the Murray Hill Neighborhood Association returned to Wee Ones Club Preschool for another special Adopt-A-Block School Outreach visit, this time focused on how our neighborhood changes throughout the year.
Using photos of the same Murray Hill corner at E. 35th Street and Park Avenue in winter, spring, summer, and fall, the children explored how a neighborhood can look completely different from one season to the next. Together, we talked about the different ways neighbors help care for the block throughout the year, from planting flowers and caring for tree beds to helping keep sidewalks clean after windy days or storms.
One of the most exciting parts of the visit was watching the children react to how much the exact same corner could transform throughout the seasons. The photos sparked conversations about weather, nature, and the small ways we can all help care for our neighborhood year-round.
The children also completed a seasonal matching activity using stickers to identify signs of winter, spring, summer, and fall, helping connect the changing seasons to the neighborhood around them in a fun and hands-on way.
The Adopt-A-Block School Outreach program is part of MHNA’s larger effort to encourage neighborhood stewardship and community connection from an early age. We are so grateful to Wee Ones Club Preschool for continuing to partner with us in helping raise the next generation of neighborhood helpers.
Because every season is a good season to Do Good in the Hood. 💚
