RSVP for Virtual Know Your Rights Town Hall w/ NYCLU’s Donna Lieberman re: the Military in American Cities

Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal Hosts Virtual Town Hall with Brennan Center on the National Guard and the Military in American Cities The President of the United States summoned 800 generals and admirals to Quantico, Virginia, earlier this week to urge them to fight “the enemy within” by using American cities as military training grounds. Trump and Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, said military members should resign if they are unwilling to support the Administration’s edict. This is fascism. This announcement makes Donald Trump’s threat to send the National Guard to New York and other cities even more alarming. That’s why I’m hosting a virtual town hall with NYCLU’s Donna Lieberman and the Brennan Center on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 6:30 pm to discuss what New York can legally do in the event of a military deployment, and the rights of New Yorkers during this time.
While I know this moment in history can feel overwhelming and demoralizing, we are not powerless. Every day acts of bravery — whether it’s someone escorting immigrants to and from court, or marching, or handing out Know Your Rights cards or simply speaking up for what’s just — signals to the world that we will not be bullied into silence. You can RSVP to the event by clicking on this link: https://tinyurl.com/RosenthalWebinar
