Seeking a Board President


The Murray Hill Neighborhood Association (MHNA) Board of Trustees is seeking a new President to lead this vibrant community organization.

The mission of MHNA is to continue to make Murray Hill a highly desirable place to live, work and visit. This is done through programs to preserve the neighborhood’s historic character, greening and beautification, liaising with local government officials about quality of life issues, providing information about the neighborhood to members, and social events.

Job Description

Murray Hill Neighborhood Association is seeking an individual to lead the organization as President. This role will oversee and coordinate MHNA activities, developing and executing stewardship strategies for the organization. Serving as the top ambassador for MHNA, the President will need to reside in/near Murray Hill and be an active community member for the one year term of service starting in September 2024.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee current Executive Board and Trustees, serving as the primary point of contact for the organization.
  • Serve as MHNA spokesperson with key stakeholders and press.
  • Facilitate and preside over monthly Trustee meetings.
  • Represent MHNA with community groups, partners, representatives, policymakers, businesses and other important members of Murray Hill.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate filing of all required financial reports and other non-profit filings as needed with appropriate Committee Trustees; maintain accurate records.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current, active membership as well as a passion for the mission, vision and core values of MHNA.
  • Proven board, business or non–profit leadership experience with a focus on influencing decisions and creating impact.
  • Action-oriented, strategic and innovative approach to work.
  • Familiarity with NY state and city laws, governance and agencies.
  • Ability to build, lead and retain strong teams and create a collaborative environment.
