Small business owner Joseph W. Foley has officially entered the race for New York State Assembly in District 74
New York, NY — Small business owner Joseph W. Foley has officially entered the race for
New York State Assembly in District 74, which includes parts of Kips Bay, Gramercy, Murray
Hill, Tudor City, Stuyvesant Town, and Alphabet City. Foley has secured the Republican and
Conservative Party nominations for the Special Election scheduled for February 3, 2026.
“We keep voting for the same policies with different faces, rotating people through positions, yet
nothing improves,” Foley said. “I’m a father of two, and I’m running for the next generation.
I’ve owned and operated businesses in this district for over a decade, and my children attend
public school here. The direction of our city is uncertain, the cost of living is too high, and
everyday New Yorkers are struggling to build wealth.”
Foley added, “I consider myself an independent thinker, and I’m deeply concerned about where
our city is headed. The middle and working classes are being pushed further down by policies
shaped by the same political leadership that has been in charge for years. That must change.”
Affordability and public safety are central to Foley’s platform. “I want to cut income taxes for
the working class and put more money back into people’s pockets. Government should be run
like a household or a business—spend responsibly, eliminate what doesn’t work, and stop
relying on endless new revenue to cover inefficiency. Affordability and safety go hand in hand.
When families feel safe, communities thrive.”
Raised in Ashley, Pennsylvania, a small mining town, Foley moved to New York City with $400
and a dream. He built multiple businesses from the ground up and earned degrees from NYU and
Columbia University. He has also taught at Fordham University. Along with his wife, Foley
founded Pedal House, Pure House, and PowerPass.
Foley brings firsthand experience in economics, real estate, and small business, as well as a deep
understanding of the challenges facing working families. He is not part of the political
establishment, but a business owner, educator, and parent who believes grit, accountability, and
common sense can restore opportunity and trust in government.

Are there no other candidates? Or was the association too lazy to look up the names of others also in the race in order to better serve Murray Hill residents?
