STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL ON COURT OF APPEALS DECISION TO UPHOLD EARLY MAIL VOTER ACT

The Early Mail Voter Act allows any New York registered voter to apply for a mail-in ballot (you can also drop off the ballot in person). Voters can apply now for an Early Mail ballot at the NYS Board of Elections  website https://elections.ny.gov, tap the Request a Ballot link, or at the NYC Board of Elections website https://vote.nyc, tap the Request a Ballot link.

Note that if you request an Early Mail or Absentee Ballot and then decide to vote in person you must vote by affidavit. Voters are no longer permitted to cast a ballot on a voting machine if they have been issued an early mail or absentee ballot for that election. Voters who have already been issued an early mail or absentee ballot can still vote in person using an affidavit ballot.
