Vanessa Aronson Secures Democratic Nomination for 73rd Assembly District Race for 2026
Vanessa Aronson @vanessataronson (also a Murray Hill Neighborhood Association member) has officially secured the Democratic nomination for New York’s 73rd Assembly District, running uncontested after building a broad coalition of community supporters (residents interested in learning more about the candidate can see here her feedback from last year’s 2025 city council race).
The campaign has received endorsements, including Rep. Jerry Nadler, Council Speaker Julie Menin, Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal, Council Member Virginia Maloney, former City Council Members Dan Garodnick and Ben Kallos, and current Assemblymember Alex Bores.
The candidate will now advance to the general election in November.
With the primary concluded, the campaign has noted that it will no longer be eligible for New York State public matching funds, and will rely entirely on donor support through Election Day. The race has drawn attention to shifting voter registration trends in the district, where Republican enrollment has been gradually increasing. The November general election will be the next opportunity for district residents to weigh in.
