Veterans Day Parade November 11
Tuesday, November 11, the annual Veterans Day Parade kicks off in Madison Square Park.
The parade begins at approximately 12:30 PM, festivities start in the park at 10:55 AM with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Eternal Light Flagstaff.
Travelling north on Fifth Avenue, the parade officially begins at 26th Street and ends at 48th Street. This year’s event will include a special commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of three military services: the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Navy.
Grand Marshals include Stephen Peck, a Vietnam War veteran who is now CEO of the U.S. Veterans Initiative; Clint Romesha, a retired United States Army soldier who received the Medal of Honor; and Sunita Williams, a retired U.S. Navy officer and NASA astronaut who spent 286 days at the International Space Station.
Honoring the service of the country’s armed forces, New York City’s parade is the largest Veterans Day event in the nation. Thousands of participants are expected to march, including active-duty military, veterans of all eras, city and state officials, and veterans’ organizations. The Veterans Day Parade will also be broadcast live on WABC. We hope to see you there and look forward to paying tribute as a community.
