Your Vote on Tuesday, June 23: The Race to Represent Murray Hill in Congress
On Tuesday, June 23, New Yorkers head to the polls for the 2026 primary election. Here in Murray Hill, one of the most closely watched contests on the ballot is the race for New York’s 12th Congressional District—the Manhattan seat that includes our neighborhood and stretches across Midtown and the Upper East and West Sides.
The seat is open for the first time in decades. Longtime Congressman Jerrold Nadler, who has represented the district since 1992, is not seeking re-election, drawing a large and competitive field of candidates hoping to succeed him.
The Democratic Primary
Because New York holds closed primaries, only registered Democrats may vote in this contest. Eight candidates appear on the Democratic ballot for the 12th District (listed alphabetically):
- Alex BoresÂ
- George Conway
- Chris DiepÂ
- Laura Dunn
- Micah Lasher
- Jack Schlossberg
- Nina Schwalbe
- Patrick Timmins
